Health & Fitness - Snack Time!

I have been working to incorporate healthier snacks into my diet on a more consistent basis. If you are like me, you prefer small meals and snacking throughout the day. This is not a terrible thing, but I like to stay mindful of the foods that I do consume. Did I mention that I can be a bit picky? Not super picky or anything, but take my trail mix for instance. I do not care for all the nuts and chocolate and dried fruit in most trail mixes so I purchase what I like individually and I make my own trail mix. This has cashews (my absolute fave nuts), almonds, peanuts and dried cranberry. I typically wash this down with a nice smoothie or green tea with or without honey. It's fantastic. You should totally get into it if you can.
If you really want to get into it, you can measure each item added to your mix so you can create caloric amounts per serving (once you have establish what your serving size will be - i used ounces) and other macros you deem important. As nuts are high in calories, it is good to know how much you are consuming and if the amount you are consuming works with your current diet. At least that's what I've learned in my health journey. Nut calories are god calories though ;-)
Snack strong, live long! Happy Monday all. :-)
